If you’ve ever found yourself standing in the middle of your kitchen, wondering what you walked in there for, or sitting down for a “quick break” only to feel more overwhelmed than before, you’re not alone.

Heavy Days

Somedays don’t just feel busy, they feel heavy. Like your mind has 37 tabs open, and somehow, they’re all playing music at the same time, and that feeling of anxiety is brewing.

And the truth is, we don’t always have the luxury of an hour-long break, a quiet house, or a full day to ourselves. But what we do have—if we choose it—are small pockets of time that can help us reset, refocus, and breathe again.

Mom Note: Sometimes the chaos is louder than you can handle in the moment, and that's okay. But unfortunately, life isn't going to stop. So set your timer. 15 minutes is 15 minutes, and when the timer goes off, it's time to put your big girl pants back on and face the world. 🌼

Here are five simple ways to reset your mind in 15 minutes or less… because sometimes, that’s all we need to come back to ourselves.

Pause in the closet

Let’s be honest, sometimes the only quiet place in the house is behind a locked bathroom door or closet. This may be the perfect time to distract your kids with their favorite show and snack.

Give yourself permission to step away from the noise, the questions, the responsibilities, even if it’s just for a few minutes. Sit. Breathe. Cry. Scroll. Scream into your pillow if you need to. Or just be still.

You’re not escaping—you’re resetting.

Change the Environment

There’s something about fresh air that just hits different.

Step outside, even if it’s just your porch, your driveway, or your backyard, or sit in your car. Let the sun hit your face. Take a few deep breaths. Go for a walk.

No phone. No noise. Just you and a moment of stillness.
Even a small change in environment can help your mind shift gears.

It’s amazing what a little bit of the outside can do for an inside that feels overwhelmed.

Write it Out

Sometimes the overwhelm isn’t what you’re doing—it’s what you’re thinking.

Grab a notebook or your phone and just start writing. No structure. No pressure. Just get it out.

Your thoughts don’t have to stay trapped in your head. Sometimes that nagging voice needs somewhere to go. So, once they’re on paper, they feel lighter and more manageable.

Breathe Like You Mean It

We breathe all day without thinking about it, but intentional breathing. That’s different.

Try this: inhale slowly for 4 seconds, hold for 4, exhale for 4. Do that for a few minutes.

It sounds simple, but it works. It tells your body, “Hey… we’re okay. We can slow down.” Sometimes, calm isn’t something you find; it’s something you create.

Do One Small Thing (and Finish It)

When everything feels overwhelming, it’s usually because everything feels undone.

So instead of tackling the whole house, the whole list, or the whole day, pick one small thing.

Unload the dishwasher. Fold one basket of laundry. Clear off one counter.

Completing something—no matter how small—gives your mind a sense of control and accomplishment.

And sometimes, that’s the reset you need.

Take the 15 Minutes

Life doesn’t pause when we need a break, but that doesn’t mean we can’t create one.

In the middle of the chaos, the responsibilities, and the never-ending to-do list, there are small moments waiting for you to take them.

  • Moments to breathe.

  • Moments to regroup.

  • Moments to come back to yourself.

Because you’re not just managing a life—you’re living one too.

So, take the 15 minutes. You don’t have to earn it. You just have to choose it.

P.S. Love, Mom 💜
